Bodog Poker Review

Play Online Poker for free. Before you run, you'll need to learn how to crawl, and the free online component of Bodog Poker is a great way to learn. This is an absolutely free application that gives all of the experience you'll need to step right into a real money table. You'll probably want to check out a few different types of games and tables so try it out for free beforehand. To access all of Bodog's free poker tables, simply download the software and sign up for a free account. Then pick any table on the play money list, and start playing. The free online component of Bodog Poker is identical to our “real money” tables, so the transition will be easy when you decide you're ready. Once you've explored the free experience and become familiar with how Bodog Poker works, load up your account and try your hand at a real money table.

Game Features

Player Image:

Along with your screen name, you can select a player image that will give you an identity while playing at the tables. The image you select can be scaled and resized to fit the player plaque. The feature to select your image can be found under the 'Tools' menu in the Bodog Poker software.

Player Statistics:

As you play at the tables, statistics are kept on all of your actions. This allows you to analyze your play in real time or after your poker session. You will find this feature at the table by clicking the 'Stats' link near the bottom left hand corner of the table window.

Stats are kept for all games. At the start of each session, your new session's stats will be added to your previous session's stats. Depending on how you wish to use your stats, you may want to reset your stats by clicking the 'Reset' button in the bottom right hand corner of the Stats display.

Opponent Notes:

One key component to playing poker is knowing how your opponent may act in specific situations. To keep track of a player's style when playing in the Bodog Poker Room you will be able to keep notes on all your opponents.

When at any table, select the 'Notes' button near the bottom left corner. You can then select the player's screen name from the drop down menu to display the notes you have for that player. If you have not taken any previous notes, you can enter them now for future reference.

Another way to access player notes for a particular player at a table is to right click on the player's plaque. Select the 'Edit Player Notes' from the drop down menu. The bottom right hand corner will automatically take you to the notes for that player.

All notes that you keep are stored on your computer so that only you will ever be able to see them. Notes taken during one game session will be there for subsequent game sessions that you play on the same computer.

Bodog Poker Points

How points are earned:

New Accounts: All player accounts will start with 50 points.

Ring Games: You will accumulate Bodog Poker Points by playing in ring games when you have contributed to a pot that is raked. Points are awarded based on the following table:

Rake Points
$1.00 - $3.00 1.00
$0.50 - $0.95 0.50
$0.25 - $0.45 0.25
$0.05 - $0.20 0.10

Currently point accumulation occurs every five minutes based on all hands played within that time period.

Tournaments:

You will accumulate Bodog Poker Points for every $1.00 in fees paid for tournaments you enter. 3 Points are awarded for every $1.00 in fees paid so you will get 15 Bodog Poker Points for entering a tournament with an entry of $50+$5 (buy in + fee).

Time spent playing:

You will accumulate Bodog Poker Points for every minute spent playing at a table. 1 point is awarded for every 60 minutes of play. All time spent 'playing' (sitting out is not 'playing time') at free games, real money games, and during tournaments counts towards points earned. 500 points earned for playing time is the maximum value that can be accumulated per calendar month.

How points are used: Tournament Entries:

Regular tournament events are held that you will be able to buy in with using your Bodog Poker Points. The tournaments will award the top finishers cash and/or prizes based on the individual event details.
